How to choose the perfect washing machine

Buying a washing machine is essential when moving into your own home, and updating an old washer to a newer model with the latest laundry technology can give you better results, and easier, quieter washing. Here’s how to choose the perfect washing machine that meets your needs.

Things to consider when purchasing a washing machine

1) Front load or top load?

The most obvious feature to choose between when buying a washer is whether to pick a front loading or top loading version. Each comes with its own set of pros and cons. Front-loaders use less water and detergent, so are better on the environment. They also keep your laundry fresher, thanks to their more controlled tumbling action. But they can be much more expensive than top load washers. Top-loading machines are cheaper and usually smaller than front loaders, so they might fit into smaller spaces like an apartment. But they tend to be noisier, louder and use more water, so they may not be ideal if you’re environmentally conscious.

2) What’s your budget?

While price is a great indicator of the quality of a washer, it’s not the only factor to consider. Pay more for the machine if it has the features you want, or needs replacing sooner. For example, an expensive model might have a bigger capacity or offer more cycles than a cheaper machine, which may suit you better.

3) What type of washing?

Laundry is often a major source of household stress. A washing machine review can help you choose the right one for your needs. If you will use only gentle or delicate garments, look for a front loader with multiple wash cycles and self-cleaning options. These types of cycles will prolong the life of your clothes by reducing wrinkling and shrinkage. You can also use these cycles for whites and colors. If you don’t use delicate or delicate fabrics, go for a top loader. Top loaders are easier to use and require less maintenance. However, they’re not as energy efficient as front loaders.

4) How much washing will you be doing?

If you have a large family, you’ll probably need a high-capacity washer that can handle lots of laundry at once. These washers also get clothes cleaner as they spin faster. But if you’re just doing your own laundry and it’s only lightly soiled, a smaller capacity machine might do the job just fine – and will save on appliance costs.

To choose the perfect washing machine to suit your laundry needs, always keep in mind the environment, budget and type of wash you will be doing, in order to get the best results in your home.
